The works involved an extension to the Victorian buildings of Homerton College, Cambridge and provided balance to the Colleges Great Hall by complimenting a similar existing wing to the East.
The building is of traditional design to suit the historical context in which it sits, but constructed to modern standards with thermally broken stonework to avoid cold-bridging.
The extension provides a bar at ground level to serve both students and conference guests and benefits from a paved terrace within the landscaped grounds under the adjacent oak tree. Above the bar are two floors of administrative office accommodation.
The works form part of a wider scheme to improve and the student facilities within the existing Victorian Wing and will ultimately be linked through to a new concourse and serve a refurbished Great Hall during performances and recitals.
