A significant standard following implementation of the Flood & Water Management Act 2010, is that the Local Planning Authority assumes responsibility as the Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA). This means that every planning application approval has to have been specifically appraised for the drainage scheme for the site, including the determination of mitigation measures and implementation of sustainable drainage to national standards.

Typically we will conduct initial investigations with the local Water Authority and the Environment Agency to determine the drainage principles and identify significant constraints to the drainage strategy. We will identify options for the implementation of sustainable drainage features and highlight where amenity and bio-diversity can be introduced. In addition, we will provide outline attenuation measures to support due diligence on the feasibility of your development, and guidance on finish floor levels to suit design flood water levels where applicable. Our service also includes the satisfaction of the sequential and exception tests where required by the NPPF, depending on the flood zone categorisation of your site.
